'Fantastic Four' Cast, Plot & Release Date: New Movie Posters Confirm 'Dark Tone' Of Reboot Film!

The people behind the "Fantastic Four" reboot film finally revealed new movie posters to the delight of its fans. The upcoming movie has been very tight-lipped with teasers and trailers up until recently. Now, new character posters pictured the four superheroes don their costumes and show a bit of their new powers.

The new posters showed Kate Mara as Sue Storm or the Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan as Jonny Storm or the Human Torch, Jaime Bell as Ben Grimm, who became The Thing, and Miles Teller who plays Reed Richards who became Mr. Fantastic.

One thing noticeable in the posters is the fact that the actors did not wear the popular blue costume typically associated with them. Instead, the four characters donned black and tough-looking costumes, noted IB Times.

According to Screen Rant, the recent posters "follow a common stylistic trend in which the film's protagonists stand solemnly with their weapon - or power - in hand, amidst falling debris and flying sparks."

This new style is commonly used to show the somber and dark tone of a movie. In this case, with "Fantastic Four" adapting the same technique, it is certainly a confirmation of the new gloomy and dark tone the reboot decided to follow this time around.

Other films that took this route included Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" trilogy.

Unlike the 2005 version, the upcoming movie is more serious and would take on the "Ultimate Fantastic Four" origins story, as told in an earlier report by Screen Rant. When Reed's experiment took them to another dimension, the four characters' lives are ultimately changed in a way that could be harmful as well as helpful.

Just like the change in tone of the film, the producers also decided to have few departures from the comic series. One of this is the way Mr. Fantastic's power is manifested.

According to Cinema Blend, an update in the film's official website described his power as an ability to "warp the space around him, and appear to stretch his body into impossible forms and to incredible lengths" as opposed to the original idea that his body chemistry causes the change.

Meanwhile, movie villain, Doctor Doom, also got a reboot in the form of its alter ego name. Instead of carrying the usual Victor Von Doom, the character would take on the name of Victor Domashev in the film, as revealed Toby Kebbell to Screen Rant. Kebbell would feature in the movie as the superheroes' famous enemy.

"Fantastic Four" is set to hit theaters on Aug. 7, 2015.
