'Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F' Update & Release Date: Japanese Anime Confirmed To Hit Theaters This Summer?

"Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F" hit Japan in April 2015. Since then, fans in the United States of the animated series featuring Goku are eager to see what happens next to their favorite characters. The wait would soon be over as reports claim that the film is set to hit theaters in summer.

The next installment of the "Dragon Ball Z" film series opened in Japanese theaters on April 18. Prior to that, an advanced screening was shown in the United States on April 11 in Los Angeles, reported Gospel Herald.

The premiere was hosted by Funimation Entertainment which acquired the broadcast rights to the film made by Toei Animation, said Dragon Blogz.

While an advanced show to a limited audience opened in the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles, fans of the series would soon be able to watch the show in theaters. "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F" is scheduled to come out in the United States this summer. However, no exact date has been mentioned yet.

The film is the nineteenth movie from the "Dragon Ball Z" series and original series creator Akira Toryama was heavily involved in its production which included the script, character design, and concept.

Toryama revealed that the "F" in the title stood for Frieza, the character that will return to the film as one of the villains.

Tadayoshi Yamamuro directed the film. He has worked on the animated series since the 80s and is very familiar with all the characters and stories.

The movie, which was shot in Japanese, is already undergoing English dubbing for worldwide release, reported Christian Today.

Voice actors in previous "Dragon Ball Z" series are reportedly returning to lend their skills to the film. Chris Ayres is set to reprise his role as Frieza in the new movie. He also lent his voice as the villain in the "Dragon Ball Z Kai" series.

Meanwhile, Sean Schemmel would be the voice of Goku and Chris Sabat would be behind Vegeta, according to Anime News Network.

The story continues after the events of "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods," which came out three years ago. With the help of his minions and the use of dragon balls, Frieza returns from the dead to exact revenge from Goku and Trunks.

"Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F" would be shown in both 2-D and 3-D versions. It is the first film from the animated series to hit IMAX Theaters and to be shown in the 3-D version.

The movie would arrive to U.S. theaters in summer 2015.
