'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie & Trailer: 'Darker' Sequel Casts Submissive Leila Williams & Mrs Robinson? [Rumors]

Fans of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" are eager to see the sequel come to life and as a teaser to fans, new casting news has just hit the internet.

The second installment in the popular erotic-romance series is reported to be confirmed for a 2017 release with production expected to begin early 2016. The script is expected to be penned by novel trilogy author E.L. James. With pre-production preps happening in 2015, new cast additions are supposedly on-going.

In the movie released Valentine's of this year -- "Fifty Shades of Grey" -- the film made mention of a crucial character, Mrs. Elena Robinson, and based on the books, Mrs. Robinson will have a larger role in the franchise sequels.

While no confirmation whether the character will be cast and if so, who will take on the role, recalling an earlier article, a source compiled a list of the top 3 contenders for the role.

  • Rose McGowan - It was confirmed earlier that the "Charmed" actress met with E.L. James but the nature of their meeting was never disclosed. Given the gorgeous and sultry look about McGowan, it doesn't come as a surprise that she could be up for the role.
  • Katie Holmes - The former wife of Hollywood icon Tom Cruise is another name being tossed into the mix. It was reported by The National Enquirer (via IB Times) earlier that Holmes was looking forward to the role which she believes will propel her to the Hollywood A-List. "It will shock a lot of people, but she thinks Hollywood would sit up and take notice," revealed a source.
  • Kristin Bauer Van Straten - The "True Blood" star has expressed her willingness to join the series cast wherein she revealed she'd be open to playing the cougar and sexually adventurous woman after a some fans expressed their support for her to be cast.

In another article, some other stars listed as a possible fit for the female-dominant role include Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron.

"Fifty Shades Freed" Cast

Aside from the lead cast, Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) and Dakota Johnson (Ana Steele), Rita Ora playing Mia Grey has confirmed her return to the franchise for the next two franchise installments.

Additionally, MovieNewsGuide has also reported that model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne will play the role of Christian's submissive, Leila Williams.
