Marco Rubio Net Worth & Assets: 2016 Presidential Candidate Sells Home He Co-Owns With David Rivera

In what could be deemed as one of his first moves to make a stronger push for his 2016 presidential bid, Marco Rubio, the freshman senator from Florida, was reportedly trying to rid himself of the house he co-owns with friend and scandal-magnet, David Rivera.

Rubio, who has just made an announcement that he would be running for president in 2016 on Monday, is asking $125,000 in exchange of the Tallahassee, Florida single-family home, US News reports.

Quite a paltry sum for a house with political pedigree; and you can just imagine how super-paltry it would be if Rubio's presidential bid comes into fruition. The home would be a former enclave for the most powerful man on the planet; its value would surely skyrocket.

But the house, for now, sits along Bent Willow Drive, forlorn and destitute of an owner. The house was co-owned by former Florida representative, David Rivera, who is allegedly involved in illegal campaign-finance activities. It is also the very same house that links the name of Rubio to mortgage loan delinquencies when it was targeted for foreclosure by the Deutsche Bank in 2010, according to Politco.

It has a living space of 1,228 square feet spread across a 6,534 square-foot lot area. It was built back in the late 1980's, and was last sold on March 2005 for $135,000.

Some of the features of the property include a deck, fireplace, central cooling, and a two-car, 380 square-foot garage. It has 3 beds and 2 baths as noted in its Zillow listing, where some snapshots of both the interiors and the immediate surroundings of the structure can also be found.

The property is a "house of horror", as Politico would like to put it, for Rubio, just as much as his campaign, is a house of cards for many. There are others, even allies, who doubt his finances, leadership-readiness for the position, and amount of experience.

In one article by Time, it was said that the GOP would rather have Rubio defend his Senate seat where he is eligible for a 2016 re-election. The Republicans are scrambling to cling on to their 24 seats of the chamber and retain the hold of majority. And, they are banking on the 43-year-old senator who is a "proven fundraiser with name recognition and some cross-party appeal."

"I have heard some suggest that I should step aside and wait my turn, but I cannot. Because I believe our very identity as an exceptional nation is at stake, and I can make a difference as president," Rubio said at a rally in Miami, Huffington Post reports.

The net worth of Rubio stands at negative $594,995 according to Davemanuel.com. His assets, which include the Florida property and retirement funds, are counterbalanced by his liabilities that come in the form of student loan and other mortgages. In their 2012 article, RollCall.com cited Rubio as one of the least wealthy members of the senate.
