'Counting Crows' Keyboardist Charles Gillingham Sells Studio City Home for $2M

Charles Gillingham, also known as Charlie Gillingham, the keyboardist of the band, "Counting Crows," has sold his Studio City home and will be counting money these days to the tune of $2M, reports Los Angeles Times.

He bought the property in 2011 for $1.5 million, making Gillingham half a million richer, the outlet adds.

Gillingham's former home is a modern property just recently built in 2010 and featured the talent of Architect Jay Vanos, says LA Times. The bi-level Studio City home is said to cover more than 3200 sq. ft. of living space.

Gillingham is an artist himself, thus, the home speaks of artistic qualities, too. The Studio City estate reportedly boasts wide and tall windows, stretching from floor to ceilings, welcoming every bit of sunshine the home can muster. Thus, the home should be filled with natural light, creating a wonderful ambiance for composing songs. The home also prides itself by having an open floor area, giving the much needed freedom of an artistic spirit.

The four-bedroom property with 3.5 baths also includes a contemporary kitchen that comes with an island and a breakfast area, notes the outlet. Any artist would find inspiration by just being at the decks, looking at the amazing skyline and mountain views surrounding the property.

The listing agent who brokered the sale of the Gillingham home is Carol Huston of Wish Sotheby's International Realty, says LA Times.

The talented Gillingham

Gillingham is also an accordion player of the Counting Crows. In 1993, "August and Everything After" was released, notes Rolling Stone.

If ths line "So she said what's the problem baby What's the problem I don't know Well maybe I'm in love (love) Think about it every time"  from the song "Accidentally in Love" seems familiar to you, it is because the song was part of the "Shrek 2" soundtrack. Gillingham, as a co-composer of the track, was honored to be part of the seven singer-songwriters of the Oscar-nominated song in 2005, notes Variety.

His co-composer and band frontman, Adam Duritz, opened up to Variety, " At the time, I was really in love with someone and it was very difficult. It was causing me a lot of heartache, but I was thrilled to be in love. The song is about the fact that you can't always control the situation when you're falling in love. Often it's terribly wrong. I just happened to be living a parallel situation at the time."

Counting Crows has a packed schedule ahead. After touring Australia, the band will then set foot in Canada and then Europe in the coming months.
