'Mad Men' Season 8 Spin Off Confirmed? Elisabeth Moss Teases Teases in New Interview

Fan of "Mad Men" have reached the beginning of the end as the much loved series returns from its mid-season break. With the last seven episodes of the final season set to premiere April 5, actress Elizabeth Moss teases a series spin off.

Speaking to Huffington Post recently, the actress expressed her willingness to take part in a possible new project related to the TV series.

"I love Joan so much. And I love Peggy and Joan's relationship, you know? I just think she's one of the most incredibly brilliant actresses. It devastates me whenever I watch her... I wofinaluld totally do [a spinoff]," admitted Moss.

The 32-year-old star continued to say, "I most likely will [return to television] at some point. There's so much great material out there, and I've been reading some really great stuff recently. It's like you get these scripts and you're like, 'Oh man, it's so good!' [But] it takes away from something else. I do feel like "Mad Men" isn't even dead and buried yet. There could be a spinoff, but it's very much not up to me. But I think I'll pause just a second and let people enjoy "Mad Men" before I do another TV thing."

Mid-Season Episodes

The first seven episodes of the final series run began a year ago, in April 2014 and after break, AMC will air the second half of the episodes in the conlusion of the Don Draper saga. The final season will have a total of 14 episodes, one more than usual 13.

"What an incredible journey this has been," said creator Matthew Weiner in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "We sincerely thank the fans for joining us on this ride and hope it has meant as much to them as it has to us."

When the news of a hiatus was announced, many wondered whether this was the best way to go. ScreenRant reports that per Weiner, it would allow the audience to process all the events.

"We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience. The writers, cast and other artists welcome this unique manner of ending this unique experience."

Paste Magazine notes that aside from working on "Mad Men," the Elisabeth is part of the Tony-award winning Broadway revival of "The Heidi Chronicles." The play centers on the "titular character navigating career, romance and family in the late '80s".

Catch the start of the series' concluding episodes Sunday, April 5, 10:00 p.m.
