'Walking Dead' Season 5 Episode, Finale & Cast: 'Fear The Walking Dead' Teaser Trailer Released

Upcoming "Fear the Walking Dead" unveiled its first series trailer during during the "The Walking Dead" Season 5 finale.

The 15-second teaser clip offers an idea of what the new series will be like. According to Entertainment Weekly, a newscaster reports that everyone should ensure they get their flu shot because a handful of states have reported cases of a strange new virus.

Based on the video's footage, it' basically confirmed "that Fear the Walking Dead does take place during the initial outbreak of the zombie apocalypse-though it won't just be a prequel," says the publication. The new series focuses on a different set of characters and stories.

AMC announced last week (via Access Hollywood) that the spinoff/ companion series would air a promo during the Sunday night airing of the 90-minute Season 5 finale.

"From the beginning of 'The Walking Dead' on AMC, we've been asked questions about what was going on in other parts of the zombie apocalypse, and what it looked like as the world really did 'turn.' Through this new series, we're going to find out," said AMC president Charlie Collier in a statement earlier this month.

Collier also revealed that in order to expand "The Walking Dead" world, the companion series will showcase "what was going on in other parts of the zombie apocalypse, and what it looked like as the world really did 'turn.'"

Actors set to appear in the new series include actors Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.

The series has already been ordered for two seasons with the first season of the spinoff set to have six episodes. The episodes will premiere over AMC beginning at the end of summer with the second seasons set to air in 2016.

"We feel empowered by this two-season commitment, a serious show of faith from our network partner AMC," quoted E! Online of Robert Kirkman in a statement. "I personally take it as a sign that they believe, like we do, that we've accomplished our goal of developing something original that can pay tribute to the original show and expand the world I created while at the same time having something new to say with this story.  I'm very grateful that we now have the opportunity to tell this amazing story and show the fans that we really haven't scratched the surface yet when it comes to The Walking Dead."

In the finale titled, "Conquer," we see Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) encountering trouble while Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company "continue to feel like outsiders," described AMC in the episode summary. The episode was directed by Greg Nicotero, written by Scott Gimple and Seth Hoffman.

"The Walking Dead" returns in October.
