Home Project: 5 Easy Plants to Grow This Spring For Non- Green Thumbs

A new home project for your garden is perfect as soon as winter's gone. We all want to beautify the surroundings with colorful and wonderful looking plants, right?

Wait, are you afraid you would fail because you don't have a green thumb? Don't worry, here are 5 plants that you can grow easily this spring!

1. Yarrow

Yarrow tops The Garden Glove's list of plants you won't easily kill, even if you are not a garden expert. The flowers it produces come in yellow, salmon, pink, red and white.

Do you have poor garden soil and little time to spare for tending your plants? Perfect! These plants can grow in poor soil and will surely complement your busy lifestyle and soil condition.

2. Daylily

Welcome humming birds and butterflies in your garden by planting daylilies, says Birds & Blooms. These flowers showcasing various colors except blue and white can face the harshest conditions like flooding, drought and salty soil.

Tip: If you live near steep hillsides, this plant can help combat soil erosion, Birds & Blooms adds.

3. Knockout Rose

Who would not want a cherry red rose in his or her garden? A simple rose can be a very touching gift during any occasion. According to DIY Network, a knockout rose may be planted in spring. It just needs to be watered until it has reached stable growth and furthermore, what's good about this variety is that it is disease-resitant. Not thinking of getting rid of plant diseases is already a  major headache gone for non-green thumbs.

Tip: Avoid contact with salt and plant in full sun, says DIY Network.

4. Pansies

Pansies, a common spring plant growing from 5 to 10 inches can bring joy to your garden this spring, says Garden Guides.  Some simple instructions are just to be met: They must be planted 6 to 8 inches apart in well-drained, and fertile soil. That means, avoid clay as it may rot your roots because of too much water.

If you live in the Southern areas, you are in luck. You will be expecting them to last through spring and summer, notes Garden Guides.

5. Basil

Who says only colorful flowering plants should be planted this spring? Basil is also another easy plant to grow, and its fragrance will make your garden smelling sweet and fresh, too.

Aside from that, you can just snip some leaves and you'll have tasty herbs for your favorite pasta recipe in an instant.

This plant wants lots and lots of sun from 6 to 8 hours a day, says Bonnie Plants. Just remember to plant them in rich and well-drained soil.

Tip: Always keep the stems pinched, Bonnie Plants recommends, so the plant can continue to produce leaves instead of flowers.

Happy planting!
