‘Frozen 2’ Release Date & Trailer: Sequel Is Finally Happening! Kristen Bell Says She Wants To Build a Snowman Forever!

Fans of Elsa and Anna from "Frozen" would be ecstatic to find out that a sequel to their story and the city of Arendelle is in the works. Word has come out that Disney finally revealed that "Frozen 2" was given the green light and will be coming soon.

The animated film, loosely based on the Hans Christian Andersen original fairy tale, "The Snow Queen," was a huge hit since it was released in 2013. In fact, fans were determined not "to let it go" and have been clamoring for a sequel since then. However, some were not sure Disney would cash in on its success.

Nonetheless, some fans continued to hope and rumors of a sequel spread quickly after a statement made by Idina Menzel. According to Christian Today, the actress who lent her voice to Elsa posted a status on Twitter to say that a second film is in the works. She eventually quickly clarified it and said that her information was wrong.

On March 12, the news most children and adults alike have been waiting for came out and Disney announced that "Frozen 2" is indeed happening. The big reveal came a few days just as the "Frozen Fever" featurette was to be unveiled at the "Cinderella" premier.

With "Frozen 2" happening, there would be at least three features out for the franchise which began with "Frozen" and followed by the short film, "Frozen Fever."

It remains unclear what the plot of the sequel would be but it is rumored that the story would pick up where the first film ended where Elsa is the queen of Arendelle.

A report on Christian Post said that before the announcement was made, Kristen Bell already expressed her desire to see Anna back on the screen. The actress, who was the voice behind Anna, spoke to CBS News and said, "I would play forever if they would let me. Always and forever want to build a snowman."

She later tweeted, "Dreams really do come 2!! #FROZEN2 #itsofficial"

Aside from Bell, stars Menzel, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff would reprise their roles in the upcoming movie as well. No announcement has been made if Peter Del Vencho, Chris Black, and Jennifer Lee would once again be part of the second film.

Disney CEO Robert Iger expressed his determination to come up with an amazing sequel to the highly successful film. He said, "We're not demanding speed, we're demanding excellence."

"Frozen 2" is scheduled to hit theaters in 2018.
