Most Expensive Home in Georgia: Atlanta Estate With Artwork Museum Listed for $48 Million

The current most expensive home listed in Georgia is an Atlanta Estate worth $48M, says Realtor.

The interesting detail that comes with the Buckhead estate offer is that the property comes fully-furnished, along with an Artwork Museum, Unique Homes reported, citing Previews Property Specialist for Chestnut Hall, Debbie Sonenshine.

Chestnut Hall rests on an 18-acre Atlanta's Buckhead and Sandy Springs communities. With its Zip code being listed as one of the most expensive areas in Atlanta, as reported in Forbes Magazine in 2012, one surely expects the place to speak for itself.

Aside from housing several magnificent paintings, peculiar antiquities, elegant furnishings, and museum-worthy antiques, here are some of the treasures one would see in the Art museum as shared on Unique Homes:

The Treasures

The Chestnut Hall is adorned with several treasures varying from 5th to 3rd century BC South Arabian funerary stone stele to yellow scrolls made from ancient Roman ruins.

Exquisite and original paintings by the masters line up the walls proudly---Pablo Picasso, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Kees Von Dongen, and Maurice Utrillo, to say the least.

The ambience is formal, intricate and elegant because even the lights boast of grandeur---19th century French Neoclassical style bronze and crystal eight-light chandelier (circa 1880) and a Baccarat ceiling light from a Paris hotel (circa 1920), among others.

Even without these treasures, Unique Homes stated that the estate boasts of a 17,000-sq. ft mansion with seven bedrooms, eight full baths and three half-baths. Aside from these main rooms, there are four bedrooms and three baths built for the property manager house. It also has a one-bedroom pool house.

Sonenshine said, "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase a true masterpiece. The property and the mansion are magnificent, but the collection it houses is unlike anything we have ever seen," said Sonenshine. "It's perfect for collectors and those who want a showpiece for entertaining, but also perfect for families with children who are accustomed to enjoying a luxurious family lifestyle."

Even appraisers would be are impressed with the property if they visit the estate. "Chestnut Hall is an unsurpassed estate with a sophisticated, high quality, desirable collection of art and antiquities. It is the finest private collection under one roof in the United States," said Allan Baitcher, an appraiser with the Appraisers Association of America.

"Every piece in the residence was carefully selected and many are museum quality pieces. These furnishings encompass a wide array of the 'best of the best' 19th and 20th century decorative arts assembled from around the world over the last three decades, " Baitcher added.

With these luxury, who could be the most avid and interested buyers?

"We do have a lot of people coming to Atlanta for business. They're coming from China and Europe, and they're with companies that you may not have heard of," Sonenshine told Realtor.

Sonenshine is very proud of the property and a buyer must also experience it firsthand. She believes that an international buyer could perceive its potential as an investment, especially by the reactions it gets from various people. "People that see the home are amazed. They feel as if they've been transported to Europe," Sonenshine added.
