Anderson Cooper Sells Westhampton Beach Property for $2.97 Million

Anderson Cooper  finally said goodbye to one of his properties in the Westhampton Beach. Reports revealed that the 86-year-old property has been bought after it was put on sale in July 2014.

According to Newsday, the waterfront cottage was acquired for $2,975,000. It was initially listed at $3,599,000 but has seen several price reductions until the close of its sale.

It was listed under the Douglas Elliman Real Estate firm and the deal was handled by an agent, Enzo Morabito.

The 3,800 square-foot property used to be owned by the St. George family. It was built in 1928 and used to be a sports club, which was part of the St. George's family estate.

In fact, when Cooper renovated the property, he discovered a manuscript owned by the St. George family. The CNN anchor would be handing the manuscript over to the new owner of the house.

According to Realtor.com, the cottage is right across the Aspatuck River, which gives it easy access to Quantock Bay. It is a great choice for people who love boats and travelling by it.

However, only small boats could access the creek right across the cottage. "You can't get a big boat, which is kind of a blessing," says Morabito.

He added, "The cottage is open-spaced, but it keeps in line with a traditional [design]. It's traditional yet stylish. It's an understated style that puts Ralph Lauren to shame."

It has four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. The cottage is also outfitted with two fireplaces, according to Variety. Not one but two cars could be parked in the garage.

For leisure, the house has a swimming pool and hot tub beside a blue stone patio, where one could relax or sunbathe.

However, one of the most interesting parts of the property is the waterfront. It is spacious enough to house several small boats.

Aside from the St. George family and Cooper staying at the house, it used to be owned by Oscar-winning screenwriter Budd Schulberg, who was behind the film, "On the Waterfront."

Even the property beside the 20 St. George Place has a rich history. According to Morabito, it "used to be a hunting lodge. People used to hunt ducks."

The 20 St. George Place is just one of the two properties under Cooper. The CNN anchor also owns the nearby 12 St. George Place, which his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, helped him renovate.
