‘Frozen 2’ Release Date & Trailer: Official Song from ‘Frozen Fever’ & More Revealed in New Teaser! [Video]

While fans are waiting for “Frozen 2,” Walt Disney will be releasing a short animated film, “Frozen Fever,” which features the hit animation’s lead characters. Apart from revealing more details about the short’s plot, Disney also released its official trailer, as reported by Screen Rant.

The film will be built on the premise of Anna’s birthday, voiced by Kristen Bell. Her older sister, Elsa, voiced by Idina Menzel, plans to throw a perfect birthday bash for Anna. However, the queen soon faces problems when certain complications arise including her own magical ice powers.

Huffington Post confirmed that Bell and Menzel will be joined by the film’s other main cast, such as Josh Gad for Olaf and Jonathan Groff for Kristoff.

“The gang is back together,” Gad said, according to NY Daily News. “And, literally, it’s like we never went away.”

Screen Rant says that it is still possible that more “guest stars” will be added to the cast, especially since “Frozen Fever” takes place after the events that transpired in “Frozen.” However, it remains unknown whether Disney will actually push through with this possibility.

Apart from being able to see the famous characters once again, a new song was also revealed. Moreover, this new song was composed by the same song writers who won an Oscar last year for “Let It Go,” Robert Lopez and his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez.

“Frozen Fever” will also be reuniting the Oscar-winning creative team behind the 2013 animated blockbuster, which reeled in more than $1.27 billion in the global box office. KSAT also says that directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck reprised their roles as directors for the seven-minute animation.

The two-time Oscar-winning animated film was actually named as the highest grossing animated movie of all time. Hence, having a sequel and a short film come out as early as March is not surprising at all. “Every day, we’re reminding of ‘Frozen’ in our lives,” Gad shared. “So, it feels like a continuation of a saga that has many parts still untold. It felt like coming home again after a short absence.”

If this upcoming short animated film will be successful, then Disney just might decide to give “Frozen” fans even more short features in the future.

This short film is reportedly going to air on the big screen before “Cinderella,” which will be out by March 13 this year.
