'Captain America 3: Civil War' Trailer, Plot & News: Major Spider-Man Spoiler, "Not going to be white" Says Insider [Rumors]

Earlier this month, Marvel and Sony announced that they have struck a deal that brings superhero Spider-Man into the successful Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Under the details of the deal we know that the new Spider-Man will make his debut in an MCU film and go on to have a stand-alone film due out on July 28, 2017. With the production change, many are now wondering what changes are in store for the popular franchise (assuming that "The Amazing Spider-Man" series has been canceled).

According to a new report, fans may be getting more than a story and actor change. Last year Marvel shared that they a revamp of classic Avengers heroes would be updated. From a female Thor, a Black Captain America and a Superior Iron Man, we could be seeing a similar change in Spider-Man.

Per The Wrap's Jeff Sneider (via ComicBook.com), during recent appearance on the Meet the Movie Press Podcast, Sneider revealed to host Mark Reilly that Spider-Man may no longer be white.

"This is not set in stone guys, but I'm telling you right now: Spider-Man is not going to be white," revealed Sneider and added he was "95% sure" of the news.

So, if Spider-Man will see a change in character background, what will the web-slinging hero be? "Spider-Man is going to be most likely black," Jeff answered. "But there is a chance he could also be Latino. 95% sure not white."

Following the major character bomb, Reilly analyzed that Marvel/Sony's best bet would be Miles Morales instead of Peter Parker. "I don't think it's going to be Peter Parker," continued Jeff. "I really feel strongly - Sony has an opportunity to beat Marvel and DC to the punch with sort of a major black comic book movie character. Like I mentioned last week, the e-mails that leaked were perceived to be racist in some quarters. I really think that is going to play into things."

"Captain America: Civil War" has a plot that focuses on the controversial Superhuman Registration Act. With the heroes divided on the issue, Tony Stark aka Iron Man and Steve Rogers or Captain America, head the opposing views.

While the MCU film that will stage Peter Parker/ Spider-Man's MCU debut has yet to be confirmed, it's widely believed the film will be "Civil War" due to the important role the superhero plays in the plot.

"Captain America: Civil War" is due out May 6, 2016 and stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America) and Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther). No trailer for the upcoming film has been released.
