'Microsoft Surface Pro 4' Release Date, Specs & Price: October Release Set, See Details of Launch, Pro 3 Promo & Trade-In Program [Rumors]

One of the most-awaited devices in 2015 is the next generation Microsoft Surface Pro and a new report analyzes that we could see the laplet hit the shelves by the third quarter of the year.

There are several rumors circulating regarding the release of the "Microsoft Surface Pro 4" but based on the trend of Microsoft in releasing new model's, there's a good chance it will be out before the year ends. The larger mystery is the exact date of release.

Based on a recent report by PC Advisor, the site analyzes the Surface Pro 4 will hit the shelves by October 2015 for a number of reasons. First of all, with the launch of the new Windows 10 in time for the year end shopping season, it'd be beneficial for the company to release a portable device sporting the new OS.

While there are rumors that we could see the device much earlier, around July (as reported by The Christian Times) because Microsoft is allegedly planning to unveil the new Pro during the March Game Developers Conference. While this is entirely possible, the move would be an ill-advised considering the Windows 10 launch to happen a few months later.

Secondly, based on the release cycle of the firm, it alternatives between a first and second semester release.

At the end of the day, all these rumors boil down to speculation but based on the logic of PC Advisor, in relation to the Windows 10, this seems to be one of the more substantiated release date rumors circulating.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Discount & Trade- In

One recent development fanning the rumors about the release of the Pro 4 is the massive Surface Pro 3 price drop and trade-in program. Typically price slashes and trade-in promos are used by companies to encourage purchase of the latest models to assist in minimizing stocks of stores to make room for incoming new products.

Recalling the $100 price slash that Microsoft instituted for the third generation Surface Pro, ZDNet reports that the company has not only extended the promo (which was suppose to end Feb. 7) until the end of the month  but it has also discounts were also handed about across the product line.

As the Pro 3 is now down to $699, Microsoft has also instituted a trade-in program where you can get credit value for existing, older Pro models, which Microsoft claims can go as high as $650.

Additionally, the deal now includes the 64GB Intel Core i3 edition previously not part of the promo.

The deal, valid until March 8, credit can be applied towards the purchase of the Surface Pro 3. The promo is valid in both the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Interested customers can head over to Microsoft's online store to process their trade-in application.
