‘Green Lantern’ to Crossover with ‘Justice League’ Movie Universe? [Rumors]

Game N Guide pointed out that DC has quite an ambitious film roster to rival Marvel's theatrical success, as evidenced by the highly watched Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although some of DC's earlier attempts have been met with negative reviews, it now looks like the company planted some seeds for future movies.

Recently, a new "Green Lantern" movie was finally been given the green light. However, there remains no word on who will be playing the lead role. To date, fans can only speculate. Another speculation related to this project is that the reboot might crossover with the Justice League.

First, it was Tyrese Gibson of "Fast & Furious 7" who reportedly started his very own campaign as he badly wanted to take on the role of Green Lantern. Soon thereafter, rumors that David Ramsey of "Arrow" was in negotiations for the lead superhero role began to surface on the Internet.

Unfortunately, bad news awaits those who hoped to see John Diggle with the emerald ring. Marc Guggenheim, the executive producer of "Arrow," confirmed to MTV News that a revelation related to the "Green Lantern" is not one of their priorities moving forward.

"I've spoken to David quite a bit about this issue," said Guggenheim. "I know it keeps coming up. I spoke to Geoff Johns at DC after that interview went viral. John Diggle is John Diggle. We're not being coy and saying John Diggle is someone else - i.e. John Stewart." To date, it remains unclear whether DC's new "Green Lantern" movie will be focusing on Hal Jordan or John Stewart.

"DC has other plans for that character," he added. "We love David, and we love the character of John Diggle that he's created. We have really cool plans for him. They involve a wedding ring, but they don't involve a power ring."

Moreover, Ramsey as Diggle is already busy without adding an alien emerald ring into the mix. As mentioned, he will be marrying Lyla soon, the woman he proposed to in the episode titled, "The Brave and the Bold." As per Cinema Blend, he will also be working together with the Suicide Squad as well as get into a conflict with HIVE, the organization his brother killed off.

DC does not seem to be in a hurry though. After all, there is still a lot of time before the rumored release date for the "Green Lantern" reboot. However, iDigitalTimes pointed out that the Green Lantern will be making an appearance in the 2017 Justice League movie, alongside Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and other DC superheroes.
