‘Iron Man 4’ Cast & Spoilers: Did RDJ Just Admit His Comeback? The Iron Monger Lives! [Rumors]

There have been far too many issues with the "Iron Man 4." Earlier reports indicated that there will not even be a fourth installment in the "Iron Man" franchise, while others reported that Robert Downey, Jr., dubbed as RDJ, is not going to be in it, according to Cross Map.

Although there has been no confirmation regarding these questions yet, it appears that RDJ hinted about his return. Plus, rumor has it that he will also be facing off with his old nemesis in the fourth movie.

"I know there's going to be a bunch more Marvel movies," he told Ellen DeGeneres when he appeared on her talk show. "Marvel has big ideas of how to do it best, and we're in the middle of negotiation."

"So, yes?" DeGeneres asked him, pertaining to whether he will be returning as Iron Man in the fourth solo movie. "Okay. Yes!" RDJ responded.

RDJ might be indifferent about a fourth installment but Jeff Bridges has admitted, according to Venture Capital Post, that he wants "Iron Man 4" to get a green light. Bridges played the role of Obadiah Stane, or The Iron Monger. Although his character met his ugly fate in the 2008 blockbuster flick, he says that The Iron Monger was actually meant to survive.

"The Iron Monger falls into this big pit of whatever it is - some kind of acid or something - in his costume," Bridges revealed. "They pull it up in the big crane and they open up his costume, and he's gone. And, when we were shooting that film, they said, 'No, we're not going to do that. We're just going to have you go.' And I said, 'Oh, s***.' I was kind of disappointed."

"I was thinking I would be in the sequels," he added. "But, they said, 'It's a comic book. Maybe The Iron Monger will come back.'" If the studios do decide to push through with "Iron Man 4," a comeback for The Iron Monger would be a good premise, especially since Stane and Tony Stark have a lot of bad blood between them. The do-or-die fourth movie appears to be the best place for these two characters to finally settle the score.

It certainly looks like RDJ is sending everyone mixed signals. He tells DeGeneres, "Yes!" but he told Variety a different thing late last year. "There is not one in the pipe," he said. "No. There's no plan for a fourth 'Iron Man.'"
